Rokolectiv is part of SHAPE+, a European platform for innovative music and audiovisual art co-financed by the Creative Europe programme.
Building on the previous SHAPE platform,
SHAPE+ fosters exceptional emerging
talent, connecting them to local
communities and audiences through
collaborative residencies with multiple
artistic outcomes, commissioned
artworks, as well as one-off presentations
and performances. This new stage is
marked by an emphasis on residencies
and, where possible, greener forms of
travel. Each year, the curatorial teams of
all SHAPE+ festivals and initiatives come
together and choose a roster of artists to
support. Once a year, SHAPE+ platform
announces an open call and the
submissions are taken into consideration
when creating the artist list.

CEM A.: CRIT CLUB / performative panel
On 30th & 31st of May 2025 we are organizing a new event at CNDB, with live performances of SHAPE+ artists otay:onii, Abdullah Miniawy, and Adela Mede.
Abdullah Miniawy is an Egyptian expressionist, a writer, singer, composer, and actor.
Otay:onii is the sonic persona of Lane Shi, a Chinese-born, Berlin-based multidisciplinary artist whose work spans performance, installation, and experimental music.
Adela Mede is a Slovak-Hungarian musician and singer who crafts intimate soundscapes that intertwine Central European folklore with contemporary vocal techniques and experimental electronics. Her live show is produced in collaboration with Romanian artists Nona Inescu and Emilian Pospaii, following a 10 days collaborative residency in Bucharest.
The event is rounded by a performative panel / contextual performance conceived by Cem A., an artist with background in anthropology also known as @freeze_magazine. The performative panel is part of a series of SHAPE+ educational events that complete the main music program. See the details here and here.
SHAPE+ 2025 SHOWCASES ANNOUNCED
In 2025, SHAPE+ platform will organize 5 showcases outside of the EU. First three of these have been announced: Indonesian festival Jogja Noise Bombing (9 – 11 May), Cairo’s innovative party series Jellyzone (22 May) and London’s experimental music venue Cafe OTO (16 June). With support from Rokolectiv, DJ & producer Assyouti will take part in the Jellyzone event in Cairo.

NEW OPEN CALL FOR UKRAINIAN INTERNS
SHAPE+ platform announces an open call specifically for interns from Ukraine, who will be invited to spend two months with participating festivals of the project, and help in their preparation. Main requirements are a keen interest in adventurous music and art, previous experience in the cultural field, excellent English, Ukrainian citizenship and a biometric passport. Applicants must be at least 18 years old.

On 25th of September, we bring to Rezidenta9 a screening of three of the most recent videos by Farah Al Qasimi. More info here. This event is organized with the support of SHAPE+ platform, in a series of educational events that complete the main music program.
20 & 21.09.2024 / CNDB / SISSI RADA, SANTIAGO LATORRE, HA KYOON live
On 20th and 21st of September, Rokolectiv presents the live performances of Sissi Rada, Santiago Latorre, and HA KYOON, three SHAPE+ artists from the 2024/2025 roster. The event is organized in the context of the project Chak-chak-chak! Re-reading rituals, and is hosted by The National Center for Dance Bucharest. Details here.
KINGA ÖTVÖS, ADMINA, SOFIA ZADAR / residency
Our first SHAPE+ residency this year brings together SHAPE+ platform artist Kinga Ötvös in collaboration with Admina and Sofia Zadar. Their collaborative live show will be presented on 20.09 at CNDB. Read more about all related events here.
2024/2025 SHAPE+ ARTISTS ANNOUNCED
SHAPE+ platform is announcing its 2024/2025 list of artists.
The artist selection places a number of sound artists alongside musical acts that range from club music and forward-thinking media art to experiments with traditional music and free improvisation. The third year of SHAPE+ will continue its focus on collaborative residencies and one-off performances simultaneously, with three new member festivals (Polja festival, Serbia), Rewire Festival, The Netherlands, and Full of Lava, Switzerland) and a new syndicated network of partner radio stations that spans 13 countries.
