Rokolectiv presents an evening of live concerts with an explosive performance of Indonesian duo Gabber Modus Operandi, and a live show of Nyege Nyege & SHAPE+ platform affiliated artist, PÖ. The event is part of the project Chak-Chak-Chak! Re-reading rituals.

The duo of Kasimyn and Ican Harem fuse the challenging sounds of gabber, digital hardcore, punk, and noise with a number of uniquely Indonesian sounds such as jathilan (a trance dance), dangdut koplo (a subgenre of a popular dance and folk music), and funkot (reminiscent of both European happy hardcore as well as dangdut). Be it through solo works and performances, video productions or collaborations, Gabber Modus Operandi’s love for energetic, intense sounds forms the foundation of their hyper-active, unprecedented output. With exuberant digital sarcasm, they straddle the line between the sacred and the banal. Most recently, Kasimyn produced several tracks for Björk’s celebrated 2022 release Fossora. Since 2021, Gabber Modus Operandi have also been busy performing within contemporary artist Tianzhuo Chen’s evolving durational performance piece, TRANCE.

Actress, vegetable grower, music producer, vocalist and DJ, French-Ghanaian artist Pauline Bedarida aka PÖ has been a long time affiliate of the Nyege Nyege crew, playing the festival and Nyege parties during her multiple residencies in Kampala as well as Nyege showcases in Europe, when she’s not tending to her garden in a forest near Paris. PÖ released her debut album Cociage under the label Hakuna Kulala in 2023. An electronic project of vocal experimentations that contrasts with her fiery and uplifting dj sets; a universe filled with tracks that range from ghostly ambient to post punk club tunes and acapella polyphonies. An expression of the darker and more introspective side of herself and a statement of independence and multiplicity that evokes her own complex identity.
